Starlings are small to medium-sized birds with their plumage is typically dark with a metallic sheen. The bills are yellow and fairly long. They are about the size of robins and blackbirds. They are very comfortable living around people and have no problem nesting on, or inside buildings. Starlings nest in cavities and are very aggressive when looking for a good spot. If a starling finds one first, they will defend it from other bird species. If the starling finds the area already occupied, it will often destroy eggs or kill nestlings of other birds. Starlings will also fight other birds for a good feeding spot. They tend to return to the same nest every year. Since starlings are known to live 15 years, this means that an infestation could be long-term if not stopped.
